Each month, we are considering one of the Articles from the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Our Article of the Month for December is Article 1: Every child under the age of 18 has all the rights in the convention.
At Valence, we will be celebrating Human Rights Day on Tuesday 10th December!
Human Rights Day
The children would like to mark this special day of the year by celebrating the UNICEF Convention on the Rights of the Child. Children are invited to choose one of the following rights and dress to express or represent that right creatively.
Article 29
Dress in clothes that express your personality, talents or what you aspire to become when you are older.
Examples: sports, art, entertainment, musician, scientist, writer.
Article 14
Dress in clothes that represent your ethnicity, cultural traditions, religion or nationality. Be proud of who you are!
Article 31
What do you like doing in your spare time? Be creative and dress to express your interests.
Ideas: favourite book/film/game, character, design a banner that promotes wellbeing.
As a Silver Award accredited Rights Respecting School, Valence Primary is a school where children’s rights, and human rights in general, are at the heart of our ethos and culture.
We really hope that you will help your child celebrate one of these articles on Human Rights Day.
Yours sincerely,
Valence Rights Respecting Schools Team
