September Science Challenge - Draught Excluder
Resources:
- An old pair of lightly coloured tights or a long sock
- Strip of carboard
- Coloured pens/ paints to decorate
- Sewing needle and thread
- Scissors
- Filler material (old pillow/ fabrics/ cotton wool) – you can also add some rice to weigh it down.
Instructions:
- Cut off the leg of one side of the tights/ find one long sock.
- Cut a strip of cardboard the length of your tights/sock and place it inside.
- Decorate your tights/sock using coloured pens/paint/google eyes etc.
- When your design is dry remove the cardboard.
- Stuff your tights/socks with your filler of choice e.g. polyfill/cotton wool etc.
- Fold down the ends of the tights/sock at the opening and use your needle and thread to sew the opening closed. *adult needed*
- Place your draught excluder along the bottom of any draft area in your home e.g., the bottom of a closed door or a window seal.
