Admissions for Reception September 2023

Keep up to date with the Admissions process for Reception September 2023, our more general information on Reception Admission can be found further down the page.

If your child was born between 1 September 2018 and 31 August 2019, they will start school full-time in September 2023. You must therefore follow the Admissions process.

This move is not an automatic process. All parents must apply for a place even if your child is already at the school’s nursery or has a brother or sister at our school.

You can apply online here - www.eadmissions.org.uk

The online closing date is midnight on 15 January 2023. Applications received after this date are late and your child is not likely to get a place if we are oversubscribed.

You must read the admissions e-booklet ‘Starting school full-time in 2023’ before you apply. This e-booklet sets out the terms and conditions that you agree to when you apply for a school place.

If you try to apply online and you cannot see your exact address in the list, or the schools you want to apply for are not listed, you must contact the School Admissions Team before 5pm on 13 January 2023 or your application will be late.

If you have any technical difficulties when making your application online, the 'Online admissions helpdesk’ is available Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 5.30pm.
Call 020 8255 5555 and select option 1.

From September 2022...

St. George Nursery offers the following

  • 39 places in the morning 8:30 am to 11:30 am

Bonham Road Nursery offers the following

  • 39 places in the morning 8:30 am to 11:30 am
  • 39 places in the afternoon 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm

30 Hour Places & Funding

From September 2022, we also offer 30-hour places in our Bonham Road Nursery. Children accessing our 30-hour places will attend from 8:30 until 3:30 every day across the school week and academic year which enables families to fully utilise the Government 30-hour funding. This is our 30-hour offer, we are unable to offer any other flexibility in how the 30 hours are taken.

The Government provides additional funding for eligible families. For more information on eligibility, follow the link www.gov.uk/30-hours-free-childcare

For those parents who are not eligible for 30-hour funding, we will offer the opportunity for parents to utilise the Government 15-hour funding and pay a 'top-up' fee so that the children can attend for the whole day. This will be at a cost of £15 a session. There are a limited number of places which will be filled on a first-come first-served basis.

Parents and carers who wish to access the 30-hour Nursery provision must either provide the school with the government code before the pupil starts attending or pay four weeks' top-up fees in advance. Non-payment could result in the place being withdrawn due to non-compliance with school procedures.

Procedures for admittance to the nursery

Parents are invited to place their child on the waiting list before the third birthday. Parents complete a form which is obtained from either school office. The completed form is then returned to the school office, where you will be asked to present documentary evidence confirming identity and proof of address (for example passport and/or birth certificate of child, council tax bill, tenancy agreement, bank statement or utility bill for parent).

  • Tel: 020 3006 9888 (When prompted press 1 for St. George's or 2 for Bonham)

Places are allocated using the same criteria as for admittance to the main school i.e

  1. Children with brothers or sisters currently in the school.
  2. Children who live closest to the school.

If your child is allocated a place, you will be informed during the term prior to eligibility.

Note: Admission to the nursery is not a guarantee of a place in Reception.

You can download our Nursery induction guide below.

In Year Admissions

By law, children aged between 5 and 16 must receive an education. This section is about applying for a school place at any time in the school year and is called in-year admissions.

If you would like to apply for a place at Valence, you will need to apply to the School Admissions Team direct, not to us. The admissions procedure and criteria are outlined in the ‘In-year’ e-booklet ‘Finding a school place’, which you should read before you apply. The Local Authority has also produced a quick guide to the in-year process.
