On Friday 3rd November Valence boys football team attended the first round of the Jim Smith Cup. This cup is open to schools from Dagenham and Essex.
We were drawn in a group with 6 other schools from both locations and we travelled to Basildon for an afternoon of 'mini matches' with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the next round.
Valence put in a fantastic performance and with 1 game left the top 3 teams were equal on points in our group. The top 2 places would all be decided in the last matches.
After a strong start, Valence were overcome and loosing the last match of the day, put them in third place.
We were unlucky not to qualify for the next round but it was an outstanding effort by all involved.
