March 2021 Newsletter
Keep up to date with news from across both sites and upcoming events with our monthly newsletters.
Welcome back
It is so lovely to see all the pupils back in school again. There is a sense of hope in the air, as well as spring. Let us continue to be vigilant and keep to the rules – hands, face, space.
Easter activity club
We are pleased to be working with a local provider who is running an Easter activity club for pupils. Details are on the flyer. Please book directly via the Ballerz website (www.ballerz.uk). If you are entitled to Free School Meals, there is a subsidised rate – please enquire at the offices.
GEMS
Our before and after school provision (GEMS) is operating on both sites, and we have spaces. Please enquire at the offices should you wish to know more details. The provision is covered by our extensive COVID-19 risk assessment.
After-school clubs
We are planning to re-start after-school clubs in the summer term, depending on the improving situation in regard to the pandemic. We will inform you in April.
Staffing update
Several members of staff are obliged to continue working from home until the pandemic eases more. We appreciate that this can have an impact on the provision we can offer. Thank you for your understanding on this matter. We are hopeful that all staff can return to the workplace after the Easter holidays.
Time2chat
Everyone is welcome to join our virtual meetings with our Parent Support Advisers and members of the Senior Leadership Team:
- St. George’s Thursdays 2.00pm
- Bonham Thursdays 11.30am
The invite is contained in the Parentmail sent out every week.
Parents, carers & teacher meetings
We are planning for these to take place online after the Easter holidays. We feel that the pupils need a stretch of time in school before the teachers can discuss the progress of the pupils in an informed way. You can continue to communicate with the class teacher via ClassDojo, although the staff will not respond during teaching hours.
Trips
Until further notice, we are unable to take the pupils on trips. We are, however, looking to book ahead for June and July where possible.
Easy fundraising
The school is registered with Easyfundraising which means that if you register and shop at places like Amazon and Argos, you will raise donations for the school. Thank you! www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/valenceprimaryschool
Uniform
We have a selection of nearly-new school uniform available in The Roost free of charge. Please contact Vicky Goode at the Bonham site or the office at the St. George’s site, who will be happy to assist you. If you have any uniform in good condition to donate to the school, please bring it in to the school office.
Offices
Please avoid coming into the offices with forgotten packed lunches, PE kits, etc., as this can cause overcrowding and social distancing is difficult. Where possible, use the phone or email to communicate information.
