School Opening Status for 5th January
Further to the government announcement yesterday, we are confirming that Valence will not fully re-open on Tuesday 5 January.
This is in line with primary schools in certain Local Authorities where the rate of COVID positive cases is very high. The vast majority of pupils will be taught via remote learning, using Google Classroom and ClassDojo (more information to follow on Monday).
However, school will be open from Reception - Year 6 for children of critical workers and children with EHC plans and additional needs.
If you consider that you are a critical worker according to the government criteria (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-maintaining-educational-provision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-local-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision#critical-workers), please email the school office by 12pm Monday 4 January so that provision can be arranged.
The school will contact directly those families whose children have EHC plans and additional needs.
We have been informed that it is hoped school will re-open fully on Monday 18 January, although this is subject to government review.
We appreciate that this is disappointing news for us all. However, we understand that the situation with the pandemic continues to be serious and we must continue to be vigilant.
We hope that you have a safe New Year.
