Current World Issues

We recognise that during this time of lockdown it has been a challenge for school to discuss important world issues remotely.

A key current issue is anti-racism and the Black Lives Matter movement. We want to re-assure our families that we are totally committed as a school to tackling racism, and our celebration of diversity is a core element of the school curriculum.

When school resumes in September, we will continue to promote our core values including pride in ourselves and respect of others. Through assemblies and age-appropriate lessons, we will help the children understand the importance of recent events and support them to understand the difference that we can make in creating a truly inclusive community.

In the meantime, you may want to watch the Newsround videos with your children as a point of discussion. The articles in the Fighting Racism section are excellent for children.
