Keep up to date with news from across both sites and upcoming events with our monthly newsletters.

Volunteers

If you would like to help at school by reading with pupils, or helping out with cooking and art, please give your name to the offices.

Reminders

To breakfast club parents…..you must sign in your children and not leave them at the gate. Look out for the new spring/summer lunch menu which will be available from Monday 16th April and can be viewed on the website. No cycling or scooters in the playgrounds in consideration for the many pedestrians.

Uniform

A reminder that school uniform requires black footwear please. Leggings must be worn with skirts or dresses. Trousers should be grey, not black. Please could school bags be a compact size for space: only need room for reading materials, letters and/or for some lunch. Jewellery is limited to small stud earrings, which must be removed for P.E. lessons.

Don’t throw them away!

We would really appreciate donations of unwanted items that are in good condition. We need: tiny plant pots for the Nursery and Reception children; good quality books that are no longer needed at home; games such as chess, Connect 4, Junior Monopoly, Boggle, Junior Scrabble, Lego sets, Duplo sets, card games and other board games for children.

Keeping healthy

It is great to see so many mouth-watering packed lunches that pupils are tucking into: rice or pasta salads; brown-bread sandwiches; fruit; cereal bars; yoghurts. A reminder that we do not allow nut products, sweets or chocolate bars. As we are a healthy promoting school, please only send in water or milk for the pupils to drink. Jugs of water are always available for all pupils to take from. Also, please do not hand out sweets for birthdays or special occasions.

New development

We will be starting a group called Friends of Valence. This will be open to parents, carers and friends of Valence who are eager to support the school in a variety of creative ways, such as helping to organise a summer fete, helping in the libraries, etc. We will be holding a meeting on each site in the summer term to discuss the way ahead.

Valence Park development

One of our parents has been working extremely hard to raise funds for the development of our local park. As part of this project, she would love all the Valence community to be further involved in having their say about what the park should look like. Everyone is invited to a Fun Day in the park on Easter Monday 2nd April 2pm - 4pm.

Staffing update

Sadly, we bid farewell to Ms Newton who has been our resident artist working with the pupils to produce high quality artwork. Also, congratulations to Miss Taylor (teacher at St. George’s) who is becoming Mrs Dann.

Great effort

Well done to one of our year six pupils, Judea Olagundoye, who achieved a bronze certificate for the Primary Maths Bonus Challenge. This is a first for a Valence pupil.

World Book Day

Thank you to all the families and pupils who helped support the World Book Day. The pupils looked amazing in their character outfits. We also raised £469 to buy more books for schools.

Holidays

School closes at 2.00pm on Thursday 29th March and re-opens on Monday 16th April. Happy Easter to all.
